Christmas Party Hair Inspiration

Cracking Christmas Party Hair

party hair

It isn’t all about the dress at the upcoming festive party. It’s just as much about the hairstyle as the outfit – but where do you start? With thousands of hairstyles to choose from, we’re bringing you our top four ideas for cracking Christmas party hair.

The Only Way Is Up

updo

An updo is the new curl and has stamped its mark on 2018 trends. There is nothing more sophisticated than a classy top knot to crank up the Christmas glam. Whether you’re opting for a messy bun, a sleek ponytail or maybe a fishtail plait, make sure you give it a trial run the night before to avoid any last minute hair panics. If you struggle to get the length for a look like this, then contact us about extensions. We can add length and volume to your hair for those perfect party looks.

The Bigger The Better

long thick hair

If you want to make a statement at an upcoming gathering, then the bigger the hair the better. Add some serious volume to your locks using straighteners, rollers, a curling iron or giving it a bit of a backcomb and adding a spritz of hairspray. Extensions are a great alternative for adding some serious volume to your natural hair, and no matter what type you go for, we can guarantee you’ll have big, bouncy hair in no time.

Sleek and Stylish

sleek shiny hair

There is nothing more elegant than a sleek and straight style, taking it right back to basics. Wash your hair as normal using a leave-in conditioner afterwards, dry your hair as normal using a large flat paddle brush to get the hair as straight as possible, tie up your hair and straighten as normal and top it all off with some shine serum.

Just Rolled Out of Bed

casual look

Perfect for shorter styles and those among us who are strapped for time, the straight out of bed look has been rocked on the red carpet by stars like Lily Collins, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Mila Kunis. Add in some loose curls with a pair of straighteners, leave to cool and brush out to leave you with a gentle bend. Add some extra va-va-voom with some dry shampoo at the roots, because who doesn’t love volume?

No matter what style you’re opting for, we’re sure your Christmas party hair is going to impress. If you’re looking for some extra wow-factor, then get in touch about adding extensions – with added length and volume, you’re going to be able to create stunning looks in no time. Book a consultation now, and give yourself an early present.

Hair Extension Myths: Fact vs Fiction

It’s a common misconception that hair extensions are bad for your hair, but these ideas are mostly based on extreme examples and media scare stories. Whether you’re looking to get hair extensions and are worried about the side effects, have had a bad experience before, or you are a first time hair extension user, we aim to give you a run down of all the facts that totally put those myths to bed!

#1 Hair Extensions Will Leave Your Hair Damaged and Broken

Anyone who says that hair extensions damage your hair have clearly has never visited a Lucinda Ellery Studio, because this is totally FALSE! Otherwise why would so many women come back to us again and again?

This sort of story often comes from papparazi pictures of models who are constantly in the limelight and whose hair is being continually reshaped, coloured and re-styled, with extensions taken in and out, for the demands of the next photoshoot or catwalk appearance. Their hair is often under stress and it’s surprising that it survives without more damage. However this is not typical of most women, who have no such pressures and are wearing their extensions for their own satisfaction and can take time to look after them.

The facts are that if your extensions are chosen to match your hair type and fitted correctly there is no reason that they would damage your natural hair. Each of our application methods have been refined and developed in-house to ensure you are being fitted with the best extension type for your hair needs. Our technicians take the safety of your hair very seriously, offering you a free consultation and free test extensions to make sure that your hair is suitable for them, as well as a comprehensive guarantee period while you’re wearing the extensions.

#2 Hair Extensions Won’t Blend In

Weve all seen those £5 hair extensions that you can get online and gasped at the thought of how bad they will look once applied, – they look artificial and they’re mostly a single colour with little blending so they stand out like a sore thumb. But don’t worry, that is not the case with our high quality hair extensions.

Our ranges are custom made for you. We will closely colour match your new extensions to the colours and shades of your natural hair, allowing them to seamlessly blend in – with no fear of the dreaded ‘I can see your extensions’ comments. Depending on the style you choose we can blend the hair to achieve highlights or lowlights, so that the end result has the same depth and look as a totally natural head of hair. Now, we think you can pop that myth in the hypothetical trash!

#3 I Can’t Treat My Extensions Normally

We’ve developed our fitted extensions so that you can treat them the same as you would your natural hair, meaning that this common misconception doesn’t have to be a worry anymore. You can shower, swim, head out in the rain and use heat exactly as you would normally.

Our decades of experience have also shown us that there are certain products on the market that will enhance your extensions more than others and we offer excellent aftercare information explaining how to look after your new hair to keep it looking soft and lustrous.

With those misconceptions out of the way, you can see that there’s no reason not to have the hair of your dreams, so why not book in to come and see us and we can show you the possibilities. We offer no-obligation FREE consultations where we can talk about your hair goals and discuss the options we have for you. Choose your style and colour, then come back at a later date and have your wonderful new locks fitted. If you have any other extension concerns, don’t hesitate to pop us a message or call one of our studios for a chat.

3 Reasons Why You Should Choose Hair Extensions

It’s a phrase we hear often: ‘I wish I had longer hair’. Thanks to the help of hair extensions, we can make that wish come true.
Is it worth taking the plunge? Will it look natural? Yes, and yes. We’re going to take you through the top three reasons we think hair extensions are the best option for you, other than that we think they look totally beaut.

Grow baby, grow

Struggling to get your hair to grow past a certain point, no matter how gentle and caring you are? We know how you feel. We have various ranges of extensions that enable your hair to grow naturally whilst giving you the length you desire, totally damage free.

Maybe you have instant regret after getting that short crop cut that you saw in a magazine last month – it happens to the best of us! Extensions can be a simple solution to your hair regrets and can also be an excuse to try out something new. The fact they are super safe and still allow your hair to grow normally is what makes them one of the best options for you.

Cracking colour choices

The chance to try out different colours without damaging your natural hair is one of our favourite benefits of extensions. When you come in for an initial consultation, we will run through the fitting process and discuss what colour you would like your extensions to be, giving you the opportunity for your inner hair diva to run free. Add some highlights, balayage, or go for a totally new colour. Simple, easy to apply and no worries about long term colour commitments. If you don’t like the results, you can have them taken out – easy peasy!

Coloured hair is the perfect candidate for sassy updos and intricate, detailed styles. Give braids, plaits, low ponytails and messy buns a go – the hair reigns are now in your hands.

hair for adding volume

Plump it up

If anyone tells you they haven’t dreamt of having voluminous hair at least once, we think they must be lying. In our eyes, the bigger the better (although some could say we’re biased). One thing that extensions are awesome for is giving you volume and adding that extra ‘oomph’ you’ve been craving. Go from thin to thick in a matter of hours, with results that last for months.

To add some serious drama to your look, you could opt for both length and volume. When you come in for your initial consultation, colour, style, length and volume can all be discussed.

3 style tips we’ve learned from Love lsland

Much to many husbands and boyfriends despair, Love Island has consumed our lives for the last 7 weeks, and we’re not ashamed, it’s a total, guilty pleasure! Other than having to find something else to binge watch at 9pm now, there is something we can take away from the show, some awesome styling tips straight from the islanders themselves! From fashion trends to hair hacks and makeup revolutions, what have we learned over the last month and a half, other than that we LOVE Jack and Dani? Let us tell you!

hair equipment

Blow dry it baby!

Your hairdryer is your new best friend! Whether you’re looking to add some extra volume to your hair, blow dry your eyelashes or cool the armpits (thank you Jack) then the hair dryer is where it’s at! Alexandra’s voluminous waves and Megan’s short above the shoulder do gave us all the feels this season, and looks like this can be created when drying your own hair. Get yourself a barrel brush and a powerful hair dryer for natural wavy locks that any islander would be envious of!

After 49 episodes it has become very apparent that beach waves, bed hair and the messier the better is the way forward in the summer months, and we’re definitely not complaining. With extensions like ours fitted, effort can be as minimal as possible (round of applause).

Hun buns galore

We all love an updo and this years Love Island saw them in abundance. From Laura’s messy buns to Kaz and Georgia’s slicked look, a bun can take any look from 0 – 100 in a matter of seconds, and what’s even better is they’re so easy, especially with our extensions (hint hint)

A half up half down look seemed to be the chosen hairstyle for Laura and Georgia throughout the series and something we LOVE! Awesomely easy with a touch of edgy chic, we think the girls rocked this look and we’re sure we’ll see it rubbing off on the covers of magazines and Instagram pages for the next couple of months.

Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. Who doesn’t love a great hair accessory? Kaz taught us that you cannot go on holiday without a obligatory headband and the brighter the better! Accessorize a simple look to turn the heat up to 10!

Turning up the heat

As the heat may have risen in the villa among some contestants, the heat in Majorca was always consistent. How did they keep their hair looking so sleek in temperatures that would make any hair frazzle? Keeping your hair conditioned in hot temperatures can be a task, but an abundance of heat protection, a lot of conditioner and a gentle touch can all make things a lot easier. Humidity can kill your hair, and especially with extensions, damage is something you want to try and avoid at all costs, for your natural hair as much as your extensions.

Did you notice all the islanders using one beauty product? This years cast we’re obsessed with Invisibobbles, the perfect alternative to a normal hairband when you’re wanting to cut back on damage and something we would highly recommend if you’re wanting to keep your extensions in the best condition, so thank you islanders!

One of the Love Island girls

Love Island taught us a lot of things this year, other than that it is now totally a guilty pleasure for most of the UK, it taught us a lot about current and upcoming hair trends. Long hair is top on the style list right now and what a lot of the islanders rocked throughout the summer, thus giving you the perfect opportunity to jump on the bandwagon and get your very own luscious locks with our extensions. Secondly we learnt that looking after your hair in the heat is key, and very doable with the right care. We’re on hand to keep your hair looking 100% at all times, and now is the perfect opportunity to come and visit us! 6 Hairstyles To Rock This Summer

Choosing which hairstyles to rock throughout the summer months can be tricky, will it match with your outfit, will you have time to make it look awesome, and will it suit you? Leave all the hair drama back in spring and breeze through the summer months care-free and with fabulous hair. We’ve collated our six favourite hairstyles that we think will steal the show this summer!

Low ponytailThe Low Ponytail

Think your everyday ponytail and flip it on its head. This look is the simplest to create but looks chic and stylish, and suits pretty much all hair types, we think it’s a total win win. Shuffle your ponytail to the bottom of your head and fasten with a hairband or bobby pin. You can add an extra element by twisting a piece of hair around the ponytail to avoid the hairband showing, totally flawless!

Top Knot BunTop Knot Bun

Running errands, heading to the shops or doing duties around the house, this effortless look is the one for you. Rocked by Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian, this is a real trend-setting look. Start with a high ponytail and begin twisting your hair around the top of the ponytail, hair band or bobby pin in place for a top knot that looks like it took hours! Want to keep it even more casual? Ruffle up the bun and pull out some hair at the front to frame your face

Corkscrew CurlsCorkscrew Curls

Although this look can take slightly longer to achieve, the results last for days! The tight ringlet curls can add tonnes of extra volume to your hair as well as some well needed extra sassiness! Once curled, they can last up to 4 days without any real maintenance and we think that’s music to your ears girls! The longer hair the better for this look, find out about our extension options to make this look a real winner. When creating this look, make sure you’re curling from the bottom up and you alternate your direction of curl, this will ensure the most natural look.

Fishtail PlaitFishtail Plait

Plaits are perfect for all sorts of occasions but sometimes they need that extra touch of sparkle and this is where the Fishtail Braid comes in, it’s a plait with power! Taking only minutes to create this plait looks intricate and detailed but realistically is totally the opposite. The braid is created by creating a small ponytail at the base of your head and splitting it into two. Starting on the right hand side take a small section from under your right ponytail and pull it up and over the right to join the left hand pony. Repeat this step on the opposite side, taking a small section from underneath the left pony and pulling it up and over to join your right pony. It may sound confusing at first, but you’ll totally get the hang of it after a few goes.

Double-Dutch BraidDouble Dutch Braid

With festival season upon us, we thought it would be rude to leave out the Dutch Braid or as we like to call it “The festival favourite”. This look is a love of festival go-ers for its ease and simplicity, or in other words, its ability to cover up the dreaded third day festival hair! Perfect for accessorising, this versatile look can incorporate hair rings, glitter and feathers, go crazy girls! Take a section of hair at the top and separate it into 3 equal section – left, middle, and right. Take the left section and cross is under the middle one. Now take the right section, and cross it under the middle. Start adding more hair into each section as you go and continue until you reach the bottom, where you will finish it off with a normal plait.

Natural WavesNatural Waves

We know we include a natural wave in nearly all of our style blogs, but that’s because we think this style is a must try in the summer months! Whether you go for the soft curls or the messy beach waves, they take seconds to create but can leave a lasting impression for hours. Our extensions are also great for adding the extra length to this look, because who doesn’t love lengthy curls? They can be created with curling tongs, straighteners or by sleeping in plaits, this look really is that simple!

We think we’ve given you enough looks there to last you through the whole of the summer, but if that’s not enough for you, then how about trying extensions? Add that extra length and volume for the summer months and get dreamy locks all your friends will be envious of! Head over to our website for all the information about extensions and how you can book a consultation!

Caring for your hair this summer

Throughout the summer months your hair goes through a pretty rough time. From heat damage to the salt and sand from all those sunny beach trips, it is a crucial time to get your hair game on point!

With all this in mind, before you start trying to recreate those catwalk styles, let’s get the foundations right, and that starts with a healthy head of hair. There are many ways in which you can achieve this, but here are a few of our faves.

tousled hair on the beach

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, heat protection is your best friend. Using a heat spray is one of the best ways to protect your hair from long term damage of blow drying and using heated tongs. Heat can not only make your hair brittle and weak, but give you dull looking hair! You shouldn’t only look after your hair when it’s dry, using hair masks and oils are a great way of adding moisture and vital vitamins back into your hair and believe us when we say, there is a hair mask for just about everyone out there, give your hair the real salon treatment.

Talking of salons… If you’re prone to dry and frizzy hair, then one way to keep your summer hair goals alive is to make regular trips to your hairdresser. Book your appointments in advance every month or so. This enables the dead ends to be cut off and new, healthy hair to regrow, you’ll be surprised at the difference it’ll make. Plus is means you can get your sassy hair cut game on more frequently, it’s a win win!

trimming hair

What you use on your hair on a daily basis can be a real indicator to your hair’s health, especially when it needs a bit of extra care in the summer months. During the warmer seasons, you need to be using hydrating shampoos and indulgent conditioners to give your hair as much protection as possible, especially if it’s coloured, no one wants faded highlights. If you are concerned with dry or brittle hair, you may want to consider using some fine extensions; Lucinda Ellery Medi connections enhance and add volume to your hair, whilst waiting for your own hair to recover. They will instantly transform your hair and give you the peace of mind that you are still looking fabulous!
